WHO IS

CHEF JENNY

Chef Jenny, Founder of Vida Rica started cooking when she was just four years old during weekends at her abuelita Hilda’s catering hall in the South Bronx. Jenny’s love for cooking and inspiration to become a chef was born from watching her Nuyorican mother make magic in the kitchen!

She went on to earn degrees from The Culinary Institute of America and The French Culinary Institute. During her early career, Jenny had the opportunity to apprentice with some of the most notable chefs and top restaurants across NYC & globe. She also sponsored many nonprofit charitable and red carpet events including The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and private events at The SOHO House.

In 2017, Jennifer moved to Puerto Rico and just nine months later spearheaded a team of first responders, supporting the activation of 22 kitchens throughout the island after Hurricane Maria. Under the vision and direction of Chef Jose Andres, Erin Schrode, Nate Mook, and World Central Kitchen they were able to produce over 3.5 million meals in just 70 days.

As a leader in sustainability, food systems, and social impact, Jennifer has become an important voice on the island of Puerto Rico.

After spending over a decade working in the food industry across the globe, Jenny now dedicates her time to providing communities across the island of Puerto Rico access to delicious, nutritious meals and mentoring local culinary talent!
